This project is aims at reducing maternal and infant mortality rates in two districts Hardoi and Rae Bareli, which have one of the highest maternal and infant mortality rates in the country.
The project in Hardoi district is being run with support from Mamta and that in Rae Bareli with support from CARE-India.
Project activities are at three levels:
- Personal level
- Family level
- Community level
and include awareness, advocacy, linkages establishment, capacity building and communication.
A major component of the project is formation of Village Health and Sanitation Committee under National Rural Health Mission, reorganisation of Mothers’ Committee and holding its regular meetings, carrying out advocacy at the block level for ensuring health services so they can reach the people in a timely manner and health status of mothers and children can improve and permanent decrease can be affected in maternal and child health rate.
