Sarvodaya Ashram is a voluntary organisation with a vision to uplift the poorest of poor through Gandhian ideology.
Founded in 1981, for over three decades Sarvodaya Ashram is engaged in socio-economic upliftment of most neglected families such as landless agriculture labours, small and marginal farmers, and rural artisans. It is also engaged in overall development of women, quality education to children, improving access to health and community sensitization to reduce pain and suffering of the society.
Sarvodaya Ashram feels that a voluntary organisation must have an active and resourceful citizen base for making a difference. As resources with Sarvodaya Ashram are very limited, the role of volunteerism comes in handy. Several volunteers have played important and critical roles in the past in furthering the cause that Sarvodaya Ashram espouses for. These volunteers have come from diverse backgrounds. For all of them association with Sarvodaya Ashram has been an enriching experience. Sarvodaya Ashram always maintains communication with the volunteers who have contributed to the organisation.
Anyone can volunteer for Sarvodaya Ashram. It is indeed immaterial if a prospective volunteer is a student, a teacher, a professional, a social scientist, or a housewife. Education or degree of prospective volunteer is also immaterial. What matters is the presence of the spirit of volunteerism in the person.
